Fight! Fight! Fight!

I hear so many people say, "Well, if you aren't getting fed at your parish - find another one." or they say, "If your priest distorts the Mass and the sacraments, then go somewhere else." I don't agree with this. If your priest is distorting the Holy Mass or the sacraments, do find a valid mass so that you can be fed, but make sure you come back to the parish where things may not just be "right" and do much prayer and penance for that Priest.  Do not abandon him.  He is precious to God, and what a great gift is given to God if he is turned back from the darkness! For at his hands how many more are touched and if he is obedient to the Magisterium, his obedience will beget good, faithful Catholics.  Pray many Rosaries for him, do penance for him, fast for him, ask God to put it in his heart to take up his Rosary again, for the Holy Rosary demolishes all heresies.  

 Once I went to Holy Mass (I won't say where) and the Priest was totally dead in the eyes.  I can understand the desire to run, I wanted to run from that parish too.  But God said, "No, stay."  As God gave me an intellect, I began to wonder about this, why does He want me to stay? Then it came to me, my gift is...prayer.  I go all out when it comes to asking God for something, and He knows it.  My grandmother used to say, "Don't half ass it.", and I don't. I give it all my heart.  So as the Priest was celebrating the Holy Mass, a determination came to me, I wanted this Priest, I wanted him back, not because I knew him or loved him, but because I knew God loves him, and because I love God, I wanted Him to have His priest back.  So, I asked, begged, and pleaded for that Priest.  A couple of weeks later I went to Holy Mass, and the Priest came out and my jaw dropped.  His eyes were alive again, and such a wonderful homily! 

 Abandoning these souls is what the evil one wants you to do. But I say to you that their souls are also precious to God and they are worth fighting for. If you love God, fight for them, because you know that He loves them, and if you truly do love Him you don't want to see God hurt by the loss of their souls. Fight for them! Don't give up on them. We are not only called to be perfect as God is perfect, but as faithful as He is too.

    Thank you so much for this post! There is so much to think about.

    A few weeks ago I also wrote about this subject. I know what it is like to attend Mass in a parish where the priest is in error, and the liturgy is in a mess. (Many people do, I'm sure.) It can involve real suffering. I was musing over whether it is better to accept that suffering and use it as prayer for both priest and parish, rather than running away. I don't really like this idea but some times we have to do something whether we like it or not.

    I said, "Suffering? Infinitive amounts of grace must result from suffering, grace that could change a priest, a parish… And do we refuse to suffer? Do we side-step the suffering by abandoning our parish and the priest?"

    Maybe my focus is slightly different as I was writing about the value of suffering rather than actual prayers (though we talked about praying for priests too).

    I don't think anyone who responded to my post actually felt my instinct to stay was correct, though we had a great discussion.

    I absolutely agree with you about the need to pray for our priests. Your prayers bore fruit. I will remember that.

The Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary

This is the image most often associated with the writings of the Belgian mystic Berthe Petit. She promoted devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. During my preparation for the retreat I am giving at the end of the month in Pantasaph, North Wales, I began reading a book by the late John Haffert (once the lay leader of the Blue Army of Fatima). His theory in the book, which speaks of God's "last effort" to convert the world before the coming chastisement, is that we are now living in the third or fourth "day" of the Fatima week. At this time, according to Haffert, we should be promoting devotion to The Immaculate Heart of Mary. Why Modesty Is Not Subjective

Hi there, ya'll!  The modest fashion world is one very diverse place.  Even among Catholics, the definition of "modest apparel" can vary greatly from person to person.  Recently I joined a Facebook group that advertised itself as a haven for Catholic women of all ages to share ideas for modest style and makeup and was hoping to learn more about modesty from my fellow Catholic sisters.  After a few days of being a member, though, I sadly left the group feeling a bit discouraged.  No two members seemed to agree on ANY aspect of modesty whatsoever, and the prevailing theme of the whole group was that modesty is subjective, it means something different for each woman and each woman gets to decide what she considers is "modest".  One woman very emphatically declared that she wears bikinis every summer to the beach and doesn't feel that this violates the virtue of modesty in the least.  The same woman also announced that she was never going to caution her d
