Have we lost our moral compass? Am I the only one who thinks our society has fallen prey to: Placing other idols ahead of God? Thinking we know what is right, all the time? Diminishing the severity of sexual sins? Finding lying acceptable? Considering our own self-worth far superior to others? Losing Our Moral Compass of the First Commandment How often do we do what we want, and not what we ought to do? For example, how often do we place political party positions ahead of God’s position, because it is easier to side with our political party affiliations rather than with God? We fail to ask, “What would Jesus do?” For example, would Jesus let children be separated from their parents at the border? Is that something we would want done to our families? Or, do we think that we are better than those who wish to enter our country? Do you have any idea WHY you must keep holy the Sabbath (Ex 20:8)? Do you view the “requirement” to go to Church on Sunday as just another chore that must be done over the weekend? Well, let me clear up a few things for you. Giving God His due, by attending services on Sunday is not something that God needs. You’re the one who needs it! God doesn’t need anything. So, the Commandment to “keep holy the Sabbath” is in place for your benefit. God created this Commandment for two reasons: God deserves at least one day per week where we honor, praise and thank Him for all that He blesses us with throughout the week. This is called giving God His due. He thinks we deserve a day of rest once per week. Hmm…Do you let the curse words fly, every now and then? Or perhaps it’s more like every other word that comes out of your mouth? Well, let me be old fashioned and tell you that cursing isn’t cool! In fact, cursing makes you sound crude, rude and undignified. Look at what happened to President Trump’s latest Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci. Newly hired, he conducted a taped interview with the NY Times. When the tape was played, there were so many “bleeps,” because of foul language, that the audio was barely intelligible. Let’s just say that many people were offended after hearing the unfiltered recording, and the man was fired ten days into the job. Cursing isn’t cool! FATHER JONATHAN HILL A sermon from Fr Jonathan Hill. It was long ago that God gave the Commandments and the Law to Moses and the Children of Israel.    Yet we read elsewhere in Scripture that the Law was incapable of making us righteous.    What then was the purpose of this gift?    The Law was intended to prevent people from doing evil, to turn their hearts towards ways of righteousness so that when Jesus came, in the fullness of time, to bring His teaching which went far beyond the Law, there would be a foundation for Him to build on.    The Commandments might be seen as our Basic Training for living a life acceptable to God.    God gave us Commandments.    Jesus willed that we should not simply be obeying laws but that we should be obeying because we wanted to grow close to God, to grow in righteousness, in faith, in compassion, in devotion.

April is "Autism Acceptance Month." Some organizations have called it, "Autism Awareness Month," but because so much of the negative advertising of many autism charities, autistics like myself have re-titled the month, "Autism Acceptance Month." It seemed most charities only wanted to make people aware of the negative parts of autism, leaving out the good parts!  I've had a tough time accepting my autism since the day I was diagnosed. The part I hate most about it is that I need help in areas and ways that other people don't. Because of that, I feel like I'm not equal to other people. So, "Autism Acceptance Month" has given me a lot to think about. Autism is a difference in neurological wiring. Although some aspects of this are disabling, they are balanced by the many strengths we also have. Autistic people generally have a great eye for detail, an unparalleled conscientiousness, sincerity and honesty. In general
